The latest TV and radio ads for Scotland’s Census launched today, with outdoor and press ads to go live on Monday 14 March.

Created by The Gate Worldwide, the new ads continue the ‘Painting by Numbers’ theme of the campaign launched on 25 February and feature the work of illustrator Alan McGowan and animator Garry Marshall.

More than 2.5 million questionnaires are to be delivered to Scottish addresses from today for the biggest population survey which takes place on Sunday 27 March.

Scottish Premier League players have been involved in highlighting the importance of the census and the fact that its results help deliver billions of pounds worth of services – including future sports facilities.

Duncan Macniven, registrar general for Scotland, said: “Like football, the census covers Scotland nationally and locally - everyone is included. For many young people - and people from the rest of the world who have made Scotland their home, such as many of the SPL’s football stars - 2011 is the first time that they have been responsible for filling in a census questionnaire. This month, they have their chance to make a permanent mark on Scotland.”
