Insurance and pension firm Aegon has pulled its sponsorship of golfers Elliot, Lloyd and Zack Saltman after four years.

The decision to withdraw is sponsorship, Aegon says, has nothing to do with Elliot currently serving a three-month European Tour, after he was found guilty of cheating during last year’s Russian Open, and said that it was due to cost saving being made across the business.

A statement from Aegon read: "AEGON has supported all three Saltman brothers, Elliot, Lloyd and Zack, from the start of each of their professional careers and is proud of the progress each has made in that time.

"In particular, AEGON was pleased to see both Elliot and Lloyd secure European Tour cards at the same Qualifying School last year."

Aegon recently unveiled Paul McMahon as its group marketing director, joining from Friends Provident.
