Former managing director of 20:20 Matt Ramsay has praised reports that a MediaCity could be built in Bristol.

Ramsay, who left the digital group at the end of January having previously been CEO of Inbox Digital, which then rebranded following the acquisition of the digital marketing group by 20:20 London, said that the development would undoubtedly boost the city’s media industry.

“The creation of a MediaCity in Bristol would undoubtedly strengthen the city's media and creative credentials, by providing a focused media hub for the many creative, media and digital businesses in Bristol,” commented Ramsay.

“It would also attract the attention and interest of creative and media businesses, and importantly - talent, from outside of the city, bringing more creative, media and digital services and skills into the city,” he added.

Ramsay also said that such a hub would ‘create its own gravity’ within the region and he expected it would also encourage growth within creative businesses as well as collaboration, as well as enabling more start-ups and specialists ‘to flourish’ in the region.

“I have no doubt that it would help continue to put Bristol at the top of the UK's regional creative and digital hot spots,” he concluded.

Ramsay is thought to be set to begin a new business, which will launch in the coming months.
