A “sexy” party game which invites participants to strip and spank each other whilst participating in a “flirty striptease” has been awarded a 12+ certificate by regulators.

We Dare, developed by UBI Soft for the Nintendo Wii, has stirred controversy for its unorthodox play, dispensing with button bashing for a series of mini games in which contestants balance a controller between their foreheads - or drop it down their trousers for fellow participants to slap.

Describing the title UBI Soft said: “We Dare is a sexy, quirky, party game that offers a large variety of hilarious, innovative and physical, sometimes kinky, challenges. The more friends you invite to party, the spicier the play!”

Defending the age certification laurie Hall of the Video Standards Council said that the promotional video was “more extreme” than the game itself, adding that “although the game contains innuendo and suggestion, if it showed anything sexual it would be have received a 16 rating.”
