A social media network set up to cater for the thus far untapped four legged sector of the digital market is taking China by storm.

It is the latest manifestation of the conspicuous wealth which is now increasingly evident with in the rising far eastern power, a transition which has seen the Chinese migrate from eating their dogs to parading them down boulevards in bows and tassels.

The site is the brainchild of Tang Yang, an entrepreneur who hit upon his Eureka! Moment after observing his girlfriend splash out on expensive imported grasses for their pet rabbit.

Sensing an untapped market Yang launched Goumin.com “dogpeople.com”, a site which now boasts 530,000 pet owners and 600 new joiners every day.

It allows dog lovers to purchase everything from gourmet pet food, to shampoo, toys and clothes to cater for the discerning pooch.
