The first Podge lunch is to take place in Manchester today, bringing together some of the north west’s most respected digital minds.

Using a retro-gaming theme, the ‘Stodge Podge’, taking place at Harvey Nichols, will be headed up by founder Phil Jones, with agencies such as Fuse8, Photolink Creative Group, Mando, Love, Amaze and Code Computerlove – which also developed the website for the event – all in attendance.

As well as the website, Code has also used the mobile barcode service from Microsoft, Tag, which will allow attendees to gain contact details of other attendees digitally.

Ste Brennan, head of mobile technology for Code, explained: “Each attendee at the Stodge Podge event will have their own personal Tag printed on their lanyard. Scanning a Tag using a mobile device loaded with free Tag reading software from Microsoft, redirects the device to an online digital business card of the attendee scanned.”

He added: “The event also encourages a competitive gaming spirit by awarding those who network and collect the most contact details throughout the day.”

The Drum is a sponsor of today’s Stodge Podge.
