David Walter, the founder of Manchester agency Photolink, has called on the North West creative community to help devise a campaign to promote Manchester to BRIC nations.

He told an audience of 90 attendees at Manchester's very first Podge Lunch, which was attended by members of the design and digital industries, that it is absolutely vital the emerging economies of Brazil, Russia, India and China are addressed as a matter of priority.

"Let's face it, who doesn't want business in these markets?" he asked. "But in order to win business we have to build our profile in these countries in a campaign that not only opens the doors for us working there but allowing them to invest here."

He called on agencies use their collective experience in helping Marketing Manchester instigate a campaign. Its marketing director Rachel Crombie also attended the lunch, which was organised by Phil Jones of Podge Lunch fame.

Photolink, which specialises in photography, video and rich media content and is based in a 30,000 square feet complex in Manchester, has developed into an international business itself with strong links to BRIC markets.
