Following the budget cuts made by Manchester City Council, it is expected that Marketing Manchester, alongside investment agency Midas and the Commission for the New Economy, will be restructured.

The plans to reorganize the organisations have been recommended by a report by Sir Howard Bernstein and Barbara Spicer, chief executives of Manchester and Salford City Councils respectively, and handed to the Association of Greater Manchester (AGMA).

The recommendation is expected to be approved later this week when AGMA meet to discuss the proposals which has been after the Northwest Regional Development Agency’s demise.

Originally it was expected that the 10 organisations which make up AGMA would see their budgets cut by £2.8 million, but in reality, the figure could be closer to £4 million and is expected to see the creation of three ‘centres of excellence’.

This is will include the creation of a marketing, communications and tourism centre to combine both Marketing Manchester and Visit Manchester.

Around 100 jobs are expected to be lost across the 'family' of organisations following the restructure.

Angie Robinson, chief executive of Midas is also set to become chief operating officer for all the AGMA agencies as a result.
