Museum of London app celebrates city's musical heritage

A new app developed for the Museum of London aims to expand user’s musical knowledge in relation to the city.

The ‘Soundtrack to London’ app, developed exclusively by Marvellous for the Nokia Ovi Store aims to reveal the people, places and events that has made London one of the world’s most musical cities.

Includes on the app are over 200 locations and 160 artists, as well as music facts, trivia that uses GPS technology to find the user’s current location and direct links to the Ovi Music Store, where music from related artists can be downloaded.

Rare images from a variety of the museum’s archives have also been made available.

Vicky Lee, marketing manager at the Museum of London, said: “From Roman times to today, music has played an important role in London’s story. With Soundtrack to London we wanted to show how the capital has inspired and created some of the most celebrated talents and works, and how, in turn, it has been changed by the people who have come to this remarkable city to make remarkable music.”
