Following a social media campaign running over the last month, Ken and Barbie have rekindled their romance, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Seven years after creators Mattel chose to split the plastic partnership, it decided to begin the fifty-year celebrations since it launched its first Ken doll, to give him the opportunity to win back his long-time love, and social media fans the ultimate decision through a bespoke website.

Ken has been posting messages on Facebook and Twitter in an effort to woo Barbie back, with the final decision being announced by Barbie herself.

Speaking to USA Today, she revealed: “Ken and I were made for each other. Out love is grander than any dream house.”

As part of the campaign, a 'Sweet Talking Ken' doll was also released.

The pair split on Valentine’s Day 2004, which saw Barbie move onto date Australian surfer Blaine.

Now Mattel plans to release a limited edition ‘Together Again’ gift set with the two on a romantic date in Malibu, while their Facebook pages will also merge.
