A new procurement website has been launched by the UK Government which aims to allow public sector organisations the ability to publish notices online.

Developed by Sequence following a tender and pitch exercise by Business Link, the Contract Finder website will aim to become the main source of Government opportunities for over £10,000, which allows suppliers to access and search for tender and contract documentation published by central government departments and agencies.

The site will act as a replacement for current government tender portal, www.supply2.gov.uk.

Lower-value contracts worth £100,000 or less will continues to be available on the Supply2Gov website.

The free-to-use service will be developed in the coming months, where Businesslink will add more features and function, while also fixing any problems.

A similar portal, Public Contracts Scotland, is currently used by over 300 organisations in Scotland, from housing associations through to local authorities, and was last week lauded by the man who launched it in 2008; John McClelland, chair of Scottish Funding Council.

Last week it was announced that the recruitment portal was evoking savings of £9 billion a-year in Scotland.
