Hovis aims to block Coronation Street move
Hovis is calling for ITV to abandon plans to move its Coronation Street set from Manchester city centre to MediaCityUK.
ITV bosses plan to build a new, bigger Coronation Street set close to Hovis HQ in Trafford Wharf.
But according to the Manchester Evening News, the bakery has submitted a formal objection to Trafford Council because it is concerned that filming would bring traffic and noise problems.
Hovis says its trucks already struggle when Manchester United play close by at Old Trafford - and it believes the arrival of the Corrie crew would only exacerbate the problem.
In its objection, Hovis's owner Premier Foods writes: "Premier Foods request the certainty that their operations, which can be noisy, will not be compromised by future complaints from ITV to the council in future. Until a noise survey is submitted in this respect they object to the application."
