David Dimbleby is transferring his grilling techniques from politicians to his own BBC bosses after it emerged the Question Time host is leading a rear guard action against plans to move production of the show from London to Glasgow.

There are concerns that the political discussion show will be compromised by a geographic disconnect with the Westminster village, even though the road show travels to a different location each Thursday evening.

Dimbleby is reportedly furious at having to up sticks having already lost his hand picked editor Ed Harvard. He said "It's sad when a programme at the top of its game getting big audiences loses its editor.”

The show is scheduled to head north from September as part of a wider drive to relocate 50% of all its content outwith the capital by 2016.

Question Time is currently produced by Mentorn but senior staff are based at the BBC in London.
