Former Scotland International and Rangers player Derek Johnstone has resigned from Radio Clyde as a football pundit, and signed for rival station Real Radio Scotland.

Johnstone will host of the Real Radio Football Phone in, alongside Alan Rough, with Mark Benstead also continuing to host the show.

He has spent 25 years working as a football pundit for Superscore Board Live on Clyde One.

Johnstone said, “I’m delighted to be joining Real Radio; this is the start of a new era for me. I’m looking forward to working with Roughy; we’ve always got on well and, we were actually the first to debut the famous curly hairstyles back in the day! And not only do I join a well established and popular on-air team, I’ll be working with someone who has an even worse sense of humor than me!”

Jay Crawford, programme director for Real Radio Scotland , added: "Derek and I have known each other for 25 years and I've always felt he would be a great addition to the Real Radio Football Phone In team. I've spoken to him before about joining us and I'm thrilled that this time the timing was right.”
