Piers Morgan finally matches Larry King with Egyptian crisis coverage
It was really a big "get" for Piers Morgan: a sit-down with Colin Firth, Britain's hope for Oscar glory as King George VI. But on Friday the king's previously taped interview was bumped so Piers could go live with the Egyptian crisis.
In the broadcast from Los Angeles, Piers did really well, pulling in reporters and commentators from all the corners. Small gripe: we kept seeing the same film footage from Cairo again and again.
CNN had been criticised on Twitter for being fluffy while serious stuff was happening. Piers sorted that out. And Americans wondered if that other King (Larry) could have handled it as well.
