Banksy admits surprise at receiving Oscar nomination
Elusive street artist Banksy has expressed his surprise at receiving an Oscar nomination for his debut documentary.
The Bristol artist received a nomination for his directorial debut documentary ‘Exit Through the Gift Shop’, and released a statement highlighting his surprise.
The statement said: "This is a big surprise. I don't agree with the concept of award ceremonies, but I'm prepared to make an exception for the ones I'm nominated for.
"The last time there was a naked man covered in gold paint in my house, it was me."
The film will compete with Waste Land, Restrepo, Inside Job and Gasland.
