Colchester design agency Silk Pearce has designed the programme brochure for the 64th Aldeburgh Festival of Music and the Arts. It is the 12th year running Silk Pearce has designed the brochure.

The design theme is based on digitally-manipulated photographs of familiar objects and landscapes from the Suffolk coast which have been edited and colour-swapped to give an eerie, unsettling look and to reflect the innovative performances and content planned for this year’s event. Most of the photographs were taken by Silk Pearce in-house photographer and joint creative director Peter Silk.

The brochure’s front cover features a whelk shell with a shaft of light emanating from inside to encourage readers and new audiences to explore what the festival has to offer.

Design elements and images from the brochure will also be reproduced on concert programme covers, posters, advertising and other promotional literature.

Aldeburgh Music head of marketing and media Marc Ernesti said: “This is the third Aldeburgh Festival with musicien exceptionel, French pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard at the helm as Artistic Director and it promises another season of musical excitements. Silk Pearce has once again perfectly captured the vibrancy of this musical part of Suffolk’s coastline with an imaginative, visually intriguing and contemporary design theme that will help widen the appeal and draw in new audiences.”
