Manchester marketing agency Refinery has been appointed to redesign the packaging for global metal paint brand Hammerite.

Refinery won the contract after a competitive pitch between four unnamed European agencies. Its work will be seen on Hammerite products in more than 50 countries.

Philip Armitage, Refinery director, said: “We’re working with AkzoNobel in Germany to produce packs for Hammerite’s European markets.

"We will then be designing and implementing design guidelines for the implementation of the new packaging in territories as far afield as Russia, Argentina and Uruguay.”

The new design should be unveiled soon, having been pencilled in to replace the current packaging (pictured) in "early 2011".
