Art in Yorkshire – Supported by Tate, a programme of high quality art exhibitions involving museum and galleries across Yorkshire, has tasked fuse8 to deliver the digital components of its communications.

The Leeds-agency has been briefed to create a website and iPhone application for the programme, which is backed by a strategic marketing partnership with Welcome to Yorkshire. Online resource Axis is being used to manage the digital side of the project.

The year-long celebration of visual arts across 19 Yorkshire galleries will be tied together through a programme of exhibitions and events, with fuse8 set to deliver a listings microsite and iPhone app that will guide people around the exhibitions, while unlocking additional content and services while attending each venue.

Historic, modern and contemporary art from The Tate (pictured) will be be placed on display as part of the festival.

Marc Fabri, head of technical development for Axis, said: “At Axis we know that art of all kinds and the digital space are converging. We were looking for a response to our brief that understood how to use interactive channels to broaden the appeal of great art to a wider audience; an application that we could not only use for ‘Art in Yorkshire’ but also as a framework to be utilised for other exhibitions throughout the UK."

Darren Navier, group creative director for fuse8, added: “For our Leeds team it’s like the ideal project, touching on all sorts of things we are passionate about; culture, Yorkshire’s creativity, mobile experiences and a little bit of technical ingenuity. We have started work with Axis and the Welcome to Yorkshire team already and it’s proving a great working partnership that we know will deliver something great.”
