Foursquare, a location based social networking service, is fighting back in its battle with Facebook Places with a revamp of its business pages, offering advice to venue owners and brands on how to extract benefit from the service.

Dubbed “Foursquare for Business”, the site provides detailed guidance for businesses outlining how they may “claim” specific venues.

The geolocation tool also provides information for venue owners on how to run and track campaigns as well as furnishing brands with information on its badges reward system.

Louis Vuitton, Red Bull and Nasa are amongst the big name brands already using this service.

A pioneer at encouraging users to register their geographic location the service offers rewards and deals for people who check into the right place at the right time.

Foursquare hasn’t been without its controversies however, the site recently came to public attention when an unnamed Scottish man claimed to be the nations first Foursquare cyber stalking victim.
