Today's guest online editor, Gellan Watt, managing director of Thinking Juice answers a few questions - he's tried kickboxing it turns out, so don't mess with him.

Why did you choose to get into media and marketing?

Hmm... it looked like more fun than clients side. And I failed at football and kickboxing and martial arts hurt too much to go full pro and frankly, I thought I could get away with it in advertising. Luckily, I have.

What was your first role in the industry and what did you enjoy about it most?

My first job in the industry was working client side for a computer retailer called Tiny. In fact I was still at university while I was working there full time. I loved everything about it. I joined the business when there was something like 10 or 12 stores. I was there until they had over 110 in the UK and launched in America and Hong Kong. It was great. We were in the UK's top spending advertisers and I worked on all areas of retail from store launch, interior design and POS through to concept writing and getting my hands dirty with TV. I loved the ad business so much, I switched as quick as I could and never looked back.

What is your finest achievement so far?

Well, in business it's a shared achievement really. It's Thinking Juice. It's the product of years of hard work, blood, sweat, tears, late nights and weekends working. My business partner Debbie and I have given everything we had in the tank to get the business where it is and we're very proud to have grown through a recession, taken care of our team, stayed debt free and delivered some great campaigns for clients large and small. The accolades we have received has are fantastic but to have started our own business, made our own way and be so well regarded in the industry is really something very special indeed. We're both really proud of the business and our wonderful team.

What's the best piece of advice you've been given or heard in your career?

There's been a couple of 'interesting' moments in my career. And I've been given many sage words that I won't share. Because you'll then know how crap I was at times. But the most influential was simple and I say the same anyone that wants to listen. Work hard, work smart, treat people fairly and make the most of your opportunities.

Who do you admire most and why?

In business I admire all of the obvious Branson, Sugar, Green etc. Their incredible success is amazing and they became famous for their business success in an era when we weren't obsessed with celebrity. Personally - it's all about my family...but most significantly it's my sister. She's a force of nature and although she's a pain in the arse (sorry Tina but I know you'd say the same about me) she's been an inspiration and a stronger person it's hard to find.
