Chief Production’s eco-friendly “Mission Green Santa” challenge for Children’s ITV has been given a new lease of life - with Matmi souping-up Santa.

The site - including Santa’s runway, the Elf Village, games, videos, quiz questions and e-cards - delivers a green message to its junior audience in a light-hearted and interactive way. By being greener, kids can save Green Santa’s runway from melting so that he’s ready to take off and deliver all their presents on Christmas Eve.

Martin Offland, director at Chief Productions, explained that when learning is fun, it doesn’t feel like ‘learning’: “There’s a huge amount of eco-friendly information embedded in the Green Santa website, which kids will simply absorb as they explore the Elf Village and have fun online. At this age, children don’t make the distinction between TV and online so we’ve had quite a challenge to merge and present content consistently in the TV show and on the new website.

“Matmi have been a tremendous asset during the production process. They think from the users’ perspective to bring individual elements together in exciting ways. Their experience with other ITV shows – The Colour of Money and I’m a Celebrity - has been invaluable too. Let’s hope we get lots of green pledges from the kids on the new website so that Green Santa has a smooth take-off on Christmas Eve.”
