The date of the roll out of the first national commercial radio station in Wales by Real Radio has been announced as 4 January 2011.

Real Radio’s current reach of the South and West of Wales being extended to Mid and North Wales will take place on the first Tuesday of next year, from 8am, offering a mix of popular music and speech.

The station will continue with its formula of music and presenters including breakfast duo Jagger and Woody, Chris Moore on mid-mornings, Wiggy throughout the afternoon and Dave Brookes at Drivetime.

Tony Dowling, station director, Tony Dowling said: “This is a very exciting time for us to be extending Real Radio to listeners in Mid and North Wales. After 10 years on air in South and West Wales we hope that our new audience will enjoy the station as much as our existing listeners. Listeners in Mid and North Wales can look forward to a fantastic new radio service that will provide them with great music mixed with entertaining compelling speech.”
