With winter sniffles now making an unwelcome comeback Linford Christie is set to make a comeback of his own after Kleenex signed the Olympic champion runner to advertise its pocket hankies with the slogan: “I’ve got a tiny packet.”

The ad, created by Andrews Aldridge, plays on a cheeky sense of irony brought about by the athlete’s renowned “package”, an effort to draw attention to the compact nature of the Kleenex Pockets line for men.

Mindshare are set to follow through with a £500k campaign in January, designed to push the product through media and outdoor advertising.

Chrissy Lecky, assistant brand manager for Kleenex, said: “Who better to act as ambassador for our new tiny packets than Linford, a man famed for his impressive body?”
