Atkins diet appoints Juice for social media strategy

Diet firm Atkins UK has appointed Manchester agency Juice Digital to handle its social media strategy after a competitive pitch.

Juice will look after Facebook and Twitter profiles providing nutritional tips, news and recipes.

Steve Downes, managing director of Juice Digital, said research had shown that Atkins' target audiences "are proved to be highly-engaged with social media".

Juice will also look to get influential dieting and lifestyle bloggers talking about Atkins and it will try to secure online reviews for the diet and its associated products.

Peter Valentine, director of Atkins UK, said: "With the growth of online media and social networks in particular, we identified a clear need for Atkins UK to embrace new communications platforms and build a community in which our diet followers can share their own experiences."

Atkins has worked with Juice's parent company, Tangerine PR, since bringing the brand back into the UK in 2008.
