Fresh from launching its I'm a Celebrity... sponsorship idents, Iceland has unveiled its Christmas TV campaign starring its 'real mums' alongside 80s pop singer Jason Donovan.

Although its recent ads and idents have been created by Manchester's Tom Reddy Agency, Iceland has shopped at London-based (Beta) for its Christmas ad.

The campaign does however retain a regional element with Manchester's MediaCom North and Toast PR, which has offices in Manchester and Nottingham, handling its media and promotion.

The Moulin Rouge-themed ad shows the 'real Iceland mums' that have become a staple of the supermarket's TV ads can-canning alongside Jason Donovan - who dons high heels and suspenders for the big finish.

The brief was to create "high impact advertising" that would appeal to Iceland's existing customers while countering "the weight of competitor activity" in the lead up to Christmas.

(Beta) re-cast some of the Iceland customers that had auditioned to be its brand ambassadors earlier this year after the frozen food firm decided to move away from celebrity endorsement.
