The University of Northampton has appointed Engine Creative to provide creative and advertising services to help it "achieve ambitious marketing objectives over the next two to three years".

Northampton-based Engine has already worked with its local university on a number of communications projects after winning a nine-month contract in a tender in April.

Engine's work so far has included online marketing, direct mail, print media, social media, mobile and events.

Its new longer-term partnership will see it build on these campaigns and try to position the university as "a leading light in the transformation of the town".

Engine's creative strategic director, Andy Wise, said: "We're confident that we can work with the marketing team to create a clear tone of voice and strong brand image that places the university above regional and national competition.

"The university has already delivered tangible results to business and society and part of our role will be to highlight and communicate these great achievements."

The University of Northampton achieved university status in 2005 and is home to more than 12,000 students.
