Susan Beetlestone, head of commercial marketing for The Co-Operative Group has become the third senior marketer to leave the company this year.

Beetlestone’s departure follows that of Debbie Robinson, director of food retail marketing in January as part of a restructuring strategy, and then group marketing chief Patrick Allen, who left in July but began his new role as marketing director at LNT Group at the end of last month.

Bettelstone departs the company after 12 years, having begun as space planning manager in 1998.

Earlier this year Beetlestone’s role was changed from a group-wide function to focus on one area of the business as part of the restructure. It is thought that this change may have been what has prompted her departure.

Beetelstone commented: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Co-Op, but with the commercial marketing team now being transferred into The Co-operative Food, I have decided it’s time to leave the business to pursue other opportunities that provide me with a wider marketing portfolio.”

A Co-Operative spokesperson added: “Susan’s creative leadership, profound understanding of customers and commercial partners, and inspirational drive have been integral in creating a strong and focused marketing division within the Co-Operative Group. We would like to thank Susan for her valued contribution to the business and wish her well in her future career.”
