GoldenTwits nominee Stephen Fry has returned to Twitter days after announcing that he was to quit the micro blogging platform following his comments about women’s sexuality being picked up and condemned by several media outlets.

Writing from a plane, on his way to Los Angeles, Fry’s blog entitled ‘The Whole Silly Stick…’ attempts to set the record straight about his comments explaining that the comments were taken out of context, and explains the context in which they were said. He also looks to address what he believes is his own overexposure within media, something he claims to hate but is forced to do through contractual commitments.

He also resolved not to give another interview again to newspaper or magazine. His full post and explanation for his earlier comments can be read here.

Fry's decision to quit Twitter prompted the GoldenTwits to set up an online petition aimed at persuading the awards nominee and British Academy of Twits member to reconsider. In the 24 hours following its launch it collected around 250 signatures.
