John MacDougall, former divisional director for Faulds Advertising has left his role at Merle to head up Ten Alps Vision in Scotland following the departures of managing director Vince Meiklejohn and Vic Covey, executive chairman.

MacDougall, who joined Merle in March earlier this year, is understood to be set to take on the role of steering the company’s Edinburgh marketing office.

A statement is expected to be released by the company this afternoon.

The appointment closely follows that of Matthew Scott, who was promoted to the role of commercial director of Ten Alps Vision digital and video production unit in Newcastle at the beginning of October.

The company was also hit hard recently when it lost its £10m contract with the Government to produce web channel Teacher's TV with the announcement of closure as part of the Government's spending review.

Updates: According to Ten Alps, the relaunch of the Edinburgh agency has allowed a new structure to be created by the company, and confirmed that Covey and Meiklejohn would be moving, with the latter moving into management consulting. Scott Ford will become managing director, while MacDougall will become commercial director.

Scott Ford said “I will be taking up the position of Managing Director, in addition to my current responsibilities at the head of Ten Alps Creative and Media. Together with John I am very much looking forward to taking the agency in a new direction and am excited about the prospect of closer integration with other Ten Alps creative businesses.”
