The online arts magazine Creative Tourist has today launched an iPhone app billed as a cultural guide to Manchester.

Built by Manchester agency OHdigital, the app provides up to the minute information about the city's exhibitions, live events, museums and galleries.

Features include insider tips on the city's best cafes, bars and restaurants, a range of walking tours and historical facts about Manchester.

Creative Tourist's editor, Susie Stubbs, said: "We’ve been likened to a kind of cultural concierge service since much of our content is developed by locals who have specialist knowledge about Manchester’s hidden gems. Now those who are new to the city or just visiting, can take the concierge with them as they explore Manchester.”

The app, which is available to download now, will cost 79p but is free for the first two weeks.

Creative Tourist is a collaboration between a consortium of Manchester Museums aiming to raise the profile of the city and drive cultural tourism.
