Manchester's Photolink Creative Group has appointed Rippleffect's Craig Johnson as its new commercial director.

Johnson, who held the same role at Liverpool digital agency Rippleffect, takes overall responsibility for Photolink's new business and has been charged with developing the digital arm of his new agency.

The move brings to an end a six-year tenure at Rippleffect that saw Johnson handle new business, account management, search engine optimisation, search marketing and social media marketing.

Before that Johnson was digital media manager at Guardian Media Group.

He said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Photolink and am looking forward to developing an even stronger digital offering here in Manchester.

"There’s a huge opportunity to grow the business and expand the current range of services to reflect the agency’s position as a multi-channel retail specialist.”

Photolink employs over 120 staff in Manchester and Mumbai and its work spans design, fashion, photography and digital for brands including John Lewis, Argos, Manchester United and Homebase.

The agency's managing director, Jayne Riley, said: "This is a really exciting time for Photolink and I’m delighted that Craig has joined us to help grow the business even further.

"We’ve just had our best year yet and we’re seeing a real upturn in clients requiring multi-channel services, with digital media attracting the most interest.”
