Gavin Bruce has been made managing director of GMG Scotland taking on responsibility for Real, Rock and Smooth Radio in Scotland.

Bruce, who has held the role of acting managing director since the beginning of the year, began at the company as a sales executive in 2002, working his way through the ranks of sales and promotion manager, sales manager and then sales director.

Bruce said: “This is a very proud moment in my career. Being given this fantastic opportunity by GMG Radio, to lead such a brilliant group of people, is a challenge that I am very excited about. Our focus on creating great radio for our listeners across all three brands and delivering results for our advertisers remains unchanged.”

Meanwhile, the recently promoted managing director of Real and Rock Radio, Billy Anderson said, “As acting Managing Director for the last 10 months, Gavin’s stewardship and forward thinking has enhanced the GMG Radio Scotland proposition both on-air and in the marketplace.

“Gavin cares passionately about the business and its people and it is always satisfying to see growth from within GMG Radio. Real Radio Scotland has been an enormous success as it approaches its 9th birthday and with Smooth Radio hitting a record high in audience and exciting times ahead for Rock Radio, I am certain that Gavin’s creative flare will encourage growth at all levels in the years ahead.”
