Andy Harries, deputy editor for The Scottish Daily Mail has been appointed as the new editor of The Scottish Sun.

As has been widely rumoured since the announcement that current editor David Dinsmore was to take on the role of general manager at News International Scotland, Harries will take up the role immediately, having been introduced to staff at the Glasgow office today.

Dinsmore has already taken responsibility for the role of general manager, announced a week ago, but was continuing in the role of editor until Harries was able to begin.
