The first advertiser funded programme from retailer SPAR, ‘Meals in Moments’ is to break on Five this afternoon.

The food programme sees celebrities join chef Simon Rimmer to cook their favourite family recipe.

The first episode will feature DJ Edith Bowman (pictured).

It will be supported by a cookery book, on sale in SPAR and on Amazon, which will raise money for the NSPCC.

SPAR is aiming to change the perception of the brand from an emergency shop to a convenient destination for consumers to buy food for meal occasions at any time of the day. It chose to develop a food programme in order to give the brand access to an audience in an environment that delivers greater engagement with consumers.

MEC Manchester brokered the deal between SPAR and Five, with the programme being produced by Optomen.
