For those who feel there still aren’t enough social networking sites out there, and with the time to spare, there’s a new kid on the block... KILTR.

As the acronym suggests this latest effort comes with a tartan flavour, designed to unite Scots and those affiliated with Scotland in the online sphere.

The service invites participants to register anew or on the basis of an existing social media account and aims to send the likes of Facebook off kilter by delivering a specifically scotch experience.

Its developer, Colin Walker, has just released a test version of the site and in a statement said: “It's still at Beta stage, so please be kind!! Loads of new functionality unfolding over the next few weeks! Enjoy and please help KILTR become a successful new platform for Scots and affinity Scots.”
