NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has tasked Alienation Digital with the creation of its Fantasy Football-inspired online campaign which aims to encourage participants to quit smoking.

The campaign aims to involve every Scottish Premier League football team and will see Glasgow-based agency develop a site for smokers which will support the existing regional NHS site.

The site will aim to encourage participants to select an SPL team and become part of a competition to become the team with the highest number of people who are able to quit smoking.

Participants are able to log in, chat with others attempting to quite smoking and find information on the benefits of cessation, with reference to the overall topic of football.

Football clubs already involved include Celtic, Aberdeen and Dundee United, although it is hoped that all SPL teams will become affiliated.

Neil Barr, managing director at Alienation Digital, commented: “We are thrilled to be involved in this local initiative. We believe that the combination of our expertise, our client’s passion for the cause and the support of influential figures such as Walter Smith creates potential for a significant impact on the number of smokers in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area.”
