KMP Digitata has launched the new TrekAmerica community platform, TrekAmerica Live, which aims to change the way online social media is used in the travel industry.

KMP Digitata aimed to develop a place that brings past, present and potential "trekkers" together to share their experiences through TrekAmerica Live.

TrekAmerica Live is integrally linked to Facebook, allowing for content to be published across both networks.

Trekker are sent a unique URL to their pre-populated profile page when they book onto a tour; an interactive map shows users where Trekkers have been and where they are going and photos and video can be uploaded to profiles and shared with other users.

Photos from the users Facebook pages can also be uploaded avoiding the need for multiple uploads of the same photo.

Jenny Black, head of marketing at TrekAmerica said: "The awkward meet and greet on the first day of tour will be a thing of the past as the platform will allow Trekkers to chat six weeks before their group departs. On returning home, they can share high resolution videos and images across the globe. Through interacting with the TrekAmerica Live, passengers can earn discounts off future tours. It also provides a platform to keep in touch with friends and family whilst you are away. This is not just restricted to Facebook users as a unique login is supplied for their profile to distribute. For those considering a TrekAmerica tour, there is a wealth of information on both a destination and tour specific level in terms of photos, videos and forum posts. This is also rated to ensure the best content is most accessible."
