Nick Smith, former senior head of sport development at The Prince's Trust, has been appointed as head of sport at brand consultancy Navyblue.

Navyblue has worked in the sports sector for a number of leading sports brands including Royal & Ancient, New Balance, Sport England, Soccerex, Deccan Chargers and more recently Madrid 2018 Ryder Cup bid (Identity pictured).

Smith will be tasked with strengthening Navyblue's brand association within the sport and leisure markets at home and abroad. He will be developing relationships with Navyblue's current clients in the sports sector and will also bring his own expertise and knowledge of the international sporting arena to develop new opportunities.

Joint MD Geoff Nicol said: "Nick is well known to the board of Navyblue. His knowledge of the sector is exemplary and in his four years at The Prince's Trust has been both influential and successful at the highest levels.

"To progress with momentum and capitalise on the opportunities that exist, we believe our business needs a charismatic figurehead to develop this sector across our operational footplate. We have a great platform to work from and a substantial portfolio in sport and leisure for Nick to utilise.

"It's the first time we've worked in such a specialised role. And I believe that with Nick at the helm this next phase of development will be a very exciting time for us".
