B&Q has released an app, developed by Five by Five and Jigsaw, which aims to make DIY easier and drive sales.

The free-to-download app offers a guide to DIY for novices through to experienced handymen, offering the brand’s expert knowledge as well as safety advice, tips on what to wear and how to use basic equipment.

More advancement advice such as how to fix a burst pipe, replacing electrical switches, erecting or fixing gates and fences are also included as well as step-by-step instructions.

Facebook and Twitter can also be used to pass on information to contacts, while a list of tools for each task, as well as a map to show the nearest B&Q store are also available, as are the latest promotions and sales news.

Dave Elliott, director of B&Q Direct who developed the app, explained; “We want to help our customers get the best results from any job they undertake, wherever they are in store picking up the products or at home about to embark on the project. We all feel more confident with someone to help and advise us, and the app is designed to do just that and offer customers everything they need right in the palm of their hand.”
