Brand communicators to discuss online consumer interaction

The Marketing Industry Network is set to host a panel event in the newly refurbished Corinthian Club, featuring some of Scotland’s most respected communications professionals discussing their methods for interacting with consumers and stakeholders online.

The event, set to take place at the beginning of September at The Corinthian Club, which is near the completion of its multi-million pound refurbishment by owners G1 Group, will bring together communications professionals from The Scottish Government, Whyte and Mackay, Ultimo, STV and The Big Partnership to discuss their views on online brand management and their methods of interacting with online commentators and reviewers, including bloggers and forum members.

The panel will also discuss how they look to use online to promote their messages and word-of-mouth and their views as to whether traditional media is still the best way to promote brand activity as well has how their interaction with journalists have changed.

Chairing the panel discussion will be Stephen Lepitak, news editor of The Drum magazine.

Lepitak said; “Brands are now aware of the importance of being discussed online but they want that to be in a positive fashion, although they have no real control of what is being said or the impact-positive or negative-that can be had on their reputation as the digital world is for everyone, and everyone has an opinion. Those communications professionals and communications agencies tasked with raising awareness of brand messages and protecting their brands have a new challenge to face in steering consumers to understand and engage with their messages, and through this forum we will discuss what strategies can be put in place to do so. No longer is it a case of simply speaking to journalists – now communicators must also address and interact with consumers, and that’s a whole different ballgame.”

The event will take place at The Corinthian Club in Glasgow City Centre on 2 September from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and will include a tour of the newly renovated building for those who want to have a curious look around.
