Ahead of the start of this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival a site for one of the festival’s most popular venues, Pleasance, has been created by Fudge.

The venue expects more than 500,000 people to pass through it to see acts including Alex Zane and Stephen K Amos, with the site not only showcasing this year’s events but aiming to promote the range events that take place as both Pleasance venues in Edinburgh and Islington, while also offering the venue the opportunity to engage directly with customers.

A ticketing system has also been integrated into the site.

Phil Jeffs, technology director at Fudge, said that the project presented some complex problems for the Fudge team.

“The site is a critical part of Pleasance’s business and generates a large proportion of their total revenue, particularly during the Fringe Festival. In previous years, reliability and scalability have been major problems. The new site has been developed with this in mind and will provide a reliable sales channel both during the festival period and throughout the rest of the year,” explained Jeffs.
