Gadget website geeks.co.uk has been sold by entrepreneur Shaf Rasul to Ally Millar, editor of the online magazine, in what is reported to be a six-figure deal.

Millar has led the management buyout alongside Chris Bishop, founder and managing director of digital agency 7thingsmedia.

Rasul, a Dragon on the online version of Dragon’s Den, launched the site 12 months ago, delivering news and reviews on music, movies, gadgets, phones, MP3 players, computers and games consoles.

The online magazine boasts 80,000 unique visitors a month.

Rasul said of the website’s new owner: “Ally and the team have demonstrated fantastic ingenuity and hard work throughout the past 12 months and I wish him every success as he continues his objective of growing the site’s readership and making it synonymous with popular geek culture throughout the UK.”

And Millar added: “It has also been an incredible experience working alongside Shaf and other partners as we have driven the commercial development of the site and aligned ourselves with market leading brands.”
