The Royal Court Theatre in London has launched its new website with Birmingham digital agency Made Media.

The agency has overhauled the the site creatively and technically and added new features including integrated Google Maps showing the Royal Court's work worldwide and a timeline showing key moments in the theatre's history.

Kym Bartlett, head of communications at the Royal Court Theatre, said: "It has some outstanding new functionality... from the interactive map that showcases our work all over the world to the timeline representing over 50 years of the theatre’s rich and fascinating history, and so much more."

Made Media was appointed to redevelop the site after a four-way competitive pitch last December.

The agency's managing director, Jake Grimley, said: "The Royal Court is going through a particularly hot period at the moment, but they’ve been at the cutting edge for 50 years. I can’t think of another project we’ve worked on that has that unusual combination of cool and legacy.

"The more we got to know the theatre, the more we wanted to reflect the intimacy and warmth of the space. We commissioned photography of the walls and textures to sit behind the content."

The Royal Court prides itself on hosting new work from "innovative" writers from the UK and around the world. The New York Times has described it as "the most important theatre in Europe".
