Middlesbrough FC looks to agree monthly shirt sponsorship deals
Another English football club is set to experiment with its sponsorship agreements with Championship side Middlesbrough looking to sell shirt sponsorship on a monthly basis.
The move follows a failure to agree a deal with npower which would have seen the utility company replace long-time sponsors Garmin.
Instead, the club will look to sell its sponsorship during 10 different periods through out the next season, the first time a club has done so.
The strategy follows Premier League side Tottenham FC’s move to have two different shirt sponsors next season, Autonomy for League games and the branding of a separate sponsor during cup games.
