25 production companies based outside of London are to work with the BBC through its XM25 independents network initiative.

The 25 companies include four from Glasgow; Hopscotch, Keo North, Matchlight and Raise the Roof, Chwarel, from Cricieth, two from Cardiff; Presentable and Yellow Duck, two from Derry; 360 Production and Besom, two from Belfast; Geen Inc and Tyrone, three from Manchester; Channel K, Platform and Lion Eyes, two from Leeds; True North and Dasybeck, two from Plymouth; Twofour and Denham as well as Iambic (Bristol), Fizz Films (Birmingham), Northern Upstart (Newcastle), Pier Production (Brighton), Redbird (Winchester) and Touch (Bath).

This is the third year that the scheme has been held as part of the BBC’s Network Supply strategy and will provide the companies with the opportunity to gain a working knowledge of the BBC’s Knowledge, Entertainment and Daytime commissioning departments which may be constructive towards future working relationships and the development of programme ideas.

Through the scheme, the companies will now be involved in a series of intensive sessions and networking events over the next year, involving BBC commissioners and executives from departments such as scheduling, marketing and audience planning.

The first session will be held in London in September.
