Following last year's Letterpool, a mass public art project; a celebration of the city’s urban art and architecture, looked at through its typography - Switch Media has now launched Letterpool London.

"London has a rich, diverse and exciting design heritage, reflected all around us," said Aaron Bimpson of Liverpool-based Switch Media. "It’s in the signs and signals we take for granted and the unseen art and graffiti of the back streets; the familiar, iconic brands

and the unnoticed historical lettering we see if we just look up or down. They are the words that created our city’s unique identity."

Letterpool London is open to amateurs and professionals, Londoners and visitors. If you want a ideas, Switch recently won a Gold Award at The Roses Advertising Awards for its book on the Liverpool project - you can see the finished result at letterpool.com/liverpool.

The competition captured the imagination of photographers across the city, revealing the seen and unseen city in a 204 page

book.

Now it’s London’s turn. Switch will be putting the best entries up on the site very soon and the very best will wind up together in another "chunky coffee table book", which we’ll be launching alongside an exhibition of the winners’ work late 2010.

Closing date for entries is 20 August 2010 and you can enter online at www.letterpool.com.
