In another major departure in the Scottish newspaper industry, Tim Blott confirms the departure of Herald and Times sales and marketing director Ian Clarke.

It is believed that Clarke left the Glasgow-based publishers of the Herald, Sunday and Evening Times a week ago after five years with the business.

Prior to this position Clarke held positions such as the commercial director at Newsquest North East Ltd, circulation director at Midlands News Association and display and marketing manager at the Belfast Telegraph.

The reason for his departure is uncertain however managing director at the Herald and Evening Times Tim Blott did confirm his departure. Blott said: “I would like to thank Ian for more than five years of loyal service to the Herald & Times Group and wish him and his family every success in the future.”

Clarke's departure comes just weeks after News International made its Scottish sales director Elaine Ward Fincham and general manager Steven Walker redundant in Glasgow.

It is not known whether Clarke has another position to move to.
