GMG has announced that it is to launch a skills academy at its studios in Salford Quays, Manchester, to find the next generation of radio talent.

The twelve week ‘Futures Factory’ programme will offer participants hands on experience of working within media and is open to anyone, not depending on experience of background.

The programme has been designed to be an open invitation for people aspiring to work within media and aims to develop talent for the future of radio.

Andy Carter, managing director of GMG Radio North West, explained: “Fresh talent and fresh ideas go together – our sector is moving through rapidly changing times and we’re looking for driven people who get the multiplatform space we now inhabit. GMG Radio’s investment into the development of great people extends beyond our current teams to new entrants – we see that as crucial to our continued success and the evolution of our industry.”

Applications for the programme will be accepted between 24 May and 1 June, followed by an assessment day, during the week commencing 14 June, with the course beginning on 28 June.
