Umbro campaign shows celebrities backing England's 2018 World Cup dream

Umbro is to launch a video campaign called 'I'm In' to show the celebrities backing England's bid to host the 2018 World Cup after being announced as one of its official partners.

A host of English celebrities including Noel Gallagher, Norman Cook, Trevor Nelson, Michael Owen, Pete Tong and Alan Shearer show their support through an 18 second long video explaining why they will be backing the bid.

Umbro is already the commercial partner for the England football team.

The campaign has been handled by creative agency Exposure.

Further video messages from celebrities will be added as the campaign progresses over the coming months.

Martin Prothero, Senior Vice President of Football for Umbro, said: “Umbro has a long standing relationship with The FA and it is a pleasure to be supporting the England 2018 team in their bid for the 2018 World Cup.

"Everyone involved recognises how special it would be to host a World Cup again in this country and we wanted to create a campaign that could involve the entire country to get behind the bid and we hope as many people will upload their videos to show support.”

Yesterday it was announced that Weber Shandwick had been handed a communications role for the England bid, as it tries to get back on track following tabloid revelations about its former chairman Lord Triesman.
